I am a grown woman. A grown woman who is confident enough in her own skin to admit that MINION is my favourite word in the English language. I am also an Aunty to three incredible boys who love animation. However my love for the word goes back before they were born. Go further back in time and my love for the word dates before they teamed up with Gru in Despicable Me. The word is fun to say. Go on, say it now. Minions!

Say it with a childlike voice. Now say it with authority. Now say it with childlike authority. See, it’s a fun word.

Despite being that grown woman I mentioned earlier, my inner child is excited to see the Minions film. My cover will be my eldest nephew Josh. But let’s be honest, it’s all about me.

These little creatures have innocence. They have creativity. They are intrigued by the world around them and they want to engage with it. They are silly. They have character and some are a special kind of special. Banana!

We can learn so much about who they are and how we, as grown-ups, have lost that spark. We have lost that ability to let go of the stress and the worry and throw ourselves into the wonder of life and learning. We should be making memories with our friends and searching for a purpose. Searching for our happy place. That is why MINIONS is STILL my favourite word in the English language. In saying that, here are 15 Useless Facts About Minions:
